When it comes to the Czechs and their national heritage, many forget the history, music and architecture that distinguishes the capital of Bohemia, but immediately remember the beer. Still would! "Liquid bread", as they like to call local beer, is produced, sold and used in the Czech Republic for more than 1000 years
Beer in Prague is cheaper than bottled water, and the quality is just as impressive as the quantity. To make it easier for you to navigate during a beer trip to Prague, we chose the best bars and restaurants in the city, and also added to them the basis of the basics - the best breweries, museums and even beer SPA centers.
The outflow of tourists to Prague does not seem to stop ever. At any time of year, the streets of the Old Town are filled with thousands of tourists. At any time of the year thousands of spiers can relax in the city, see the sights, stroll along the famous bridges, and then relax in a bar with a glass of delicious beer. But fans of the foam drink know that the best time to visit Prague is the middle of May and until the first days of June - the time when the beer festival takes place in the Czech capital.
Only in the Czech Republic, especially in Prague, you can live in unique brewery hotels. One of the best among them is The Augustine Hotel Prague - it's a chic hotel, and the operating monastery of the Augustinian order, and, of course, it has its own brewery. A few years ago the hotel was reconstructed and turned into an elegant place for rest of the most pretentious public.
But the owners of the hotel did not become too zealous with modern technologies and decor, even after considerable alterations. The Augustine Hotel has preserved the historical features of a reliable refuge from the worldly bustle: vaulted ceilings, masonry, and graceful frescoes preserve the memory of the old times.
WHERE TO TRY BEER IN PRAGUE
For the first acquaintance with Czech beer in Prague, you need to look at its history, learn the varieties and methods of cooking. Therefore, before you go to the first pub you get, check out the beer museums.
To see how beer is brewed, it is necessary to visit the museum at the brewery Staropramen (Pivovarská 9, Praha 5), where beer is brewed as early as May 1, 1871. In 1880, the quality of Staropramen was appreciated by Emperor Franz Joseph himself. Since that time, a lot of beer has flowed from the barrels, but it is here that its taste remains unchanged.
You can compare yourself, the beer of this brand is sold in more than 40 countries.
Code of beer drinking in the Czech Republic
Following its basics, you can go for a local in any "hospoda" (beer).
When clinking, never cross your arms with your neighbors on the table and look into each other's eyes.
In pubs it is customary to sit down on any free space, so do not be surprised if someone podsyadet for your table.
Drink beer before the foam settles. It is believed that when heated, the drink loses its flavor.
In small beerhouses it is not customary to order new portions of beer. They are brought without a reminder and until they hear "Už je toho dost" (you can limit yourself to a simple "stop", understandable in all languages). Bring a new mug, if not drunk the previous one is considered rude and disrespectful to the client.
BEACH PRESSER
Everything that can be associated with a traveler with a nice beach can be found on Pražačka beach. Unlike other Prague beaches, this place is ideally suited for a quiet family pastime with children. It is always quiet and not crowded, especially on weekdays.
Oh, if there is no time and desire to get out far and long from Prague, then, as an alternative, you can make a short journey into history by visiting the Břevnov monastery. It is located no more than five kilometers from the city center, you can reach it by tram, coming out at the stop Břevnovský klášter.
In ancient times, brewing was closely connected with monasteries. Although beer, most likely, was produced in this region before, written evidence proves that Benedictine monks brewed beer in Břevnov monastery since 993 - the first mention of the process of making this drink. It is true that hops were grown especially for brewing in the Czech lands since the first century of our era.
The 200-meter beach line is equipped with sun loungers, a volleyball court and a bar with live music. And if you do not want to swim in the river, then you can swim perfectly in the pool size of 15 x 7 meters. The Prague is an excellent place for sunbathing in the afternoon and respectable parties in the evenings.
