GHOST CİTİES

 World's 10 Abandoned Ghost Cities

Some were abandoned after the wars, some were emptied when production stopped. Some were the result of nuclear accidents, and some were never settled. Places that attract attention with their fascinating stories.

Ordos / Republic of China

This place reminds us of Park Güell, a work by Gaudi in Barcelona. The project is starting and even a single house cannot be sold. The park then opens to the public. Ordos in China is just such a place. When we first saw the photo above, we said 'A, this is like Paris'. But this is not Paris, it is Ordos, the most expensive abandoned ghost town of China and even the world. It has theaters and movie theaters, luxurious villas, museums and affordable housing estates. This ghost town was originally designed for 1 million people to live, but for some reason only two percent of the expected rate settled in this ghost city.

San Zhi / Taiwan

This is a holiday village designed for wealthy aristocrats to live. While the project was being created, it was thought to contribute to the tourism income of the country and it was announced that nobody from the lower class could enter the city after the construction was completed. As can be seen from the photographs, the different designs of the buildings in San Zhi were started to be made with a futuristic approach to attract visitors from all over the world. However, nothing happened as planned for this place. During the construction of the city, fatal accidents started to happen to employees. With the hearing of these fatal accidents, the project started to fall out of the eyes of the people and everyone started to pull their hands and feet as no recipients were found for the project. As such, San Zhi is doomed to remain a ghost town.Hashima Island - Japan

Once the world's most coal-mined island, now a ghost island everyone forgets, Hashima. The island's fate changed with the discovery of coal deposits in 1887. People flocked to the island to work in these coal mines and they came so much that this place was declared the most populous place in the world for a period. After a while, the Mitsubishi company bought the island. With this purchase, the maximum efficiency of coal mines started to be obtained, and even these mines went down to 1100 meters below sea level for a period. However, after a while, industrial companies preferred oil instead of coal and the journey of this island to become a ghost city started. Finally, in 1974, the company decided to close all mines there and evacuate the island. Since then, the island is an abandoned ghost city.Kolmanskop / Namibia

Once upon a time this ghost city, where the water came from 300 kilometers by trains and the cheese from France; It was a lively city with its casino, restaurants, bowling halls, swimming pools, theater halls and live music with orchestra. Zaharias Lewala, a railroad worker in this then German colony, notices something shining towards him through the desert sand while working. As soon as he takes it, he realizes that this is a diamond. This news starts to be heard quickly, of course. Diamonds in the thousands of kilometers area are immediately started to be collected. Thereupon, Germany declares it as a prohibited area and transfers all rights of the region to Deutsche Diamanten Gesellschaft. In this city, where a vibrant and lively life is lived, with the end of the diamond reserves, the city suddenly begins to empty and becomes a city where nobody lives anymore, even the desert sands swallow.

This medieval town, once full of life, is nowadays frequented by movie sets and curious tourists. The city was founded on the top of a steep mountain. In this town, where life continued from the 8th century to the 17th century, many family members lost their lives due to the plague in the 1600s. With the deaths, the population has decreased considerably. Finally, in 1891, Craco, where there were about two thousand people, started to experience food and water shortages due to droughts. Val-Jalbert / Canada

This is a ghost town in Canada's Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region and its destiny is just like Japan's Hashima Island. How Does? A paper mill was established in the region in 1901. With the establishment of the factory, the workers who came to work begin to establish the city by building their homes in the area where the factory is located. However, when the factory was captured in 1927, people living in Val-Jalbert leave because there is no other job to work.
